Uric acid is odorous and if left untreated, can corrode plumbing and pipework fittings. Coupled with limescale, it causes awful smells leading to inevitable blockages and results in ‘out of order’ and/or unusable washrooms.

This damage can go unnoticed until too late, resulting in expensive repairs, even replacement of entire pipework and urinals.

Most FM companies provide small disinfectant blocks to cover the odour. However, these do not deal with the uric acid build-up, but merely mask the odour. Waterless urinals are becoming more commonplace and the build-up of uric acid is accelerated.

Traditional treatment is to use harsh chemicals, biocides etc….to attempt to clean and reduce odour within the washroom but the success rate is low.

The solution is to simply use 1 x 25g scoop of uric acid digester powder weekly, poured directly into the bowl. This will eliminate the build-up, remove odour and prevent reoccurring blockages, prolonging the life cycle of your assets.
